Allergist Update – Allergy Shot!!

Just finished shadowing my allergist and getting my yearly checkup with him! The verdict?!? There’s nothing to worry about with my eye!! It’s just a mild break out of Eczema that should subside by the time school starts. For extra precaution, he also prescribed some medication I could take it if gets worse.

My allergist also recommended that I change my Dupixent schedule to once a month instead of twice a month. Hopefully, this will lessen my joint pain because right now I feel like I have the body of an 80 year old.

Also, I have more good news to share! I’m starting my allergy shots soon. Once the lab is done mixing my medicine, I should start my shot. The lab basically takes all of my allergens and increases the dosage of the allergens over time, which will hopefully increase my immunity toward those triggers. The way they figure out the amounts of allergens to put in the solution depends on the results from the skin test which determines how severe you are allergic to certain different things.

The rest of the time at the allergist, I was able to shadow my doctor. I learned all about skin tests, asthma, allergies, medications, and the various cases of patients. It was a great experience and I can’t wait until I go back to shadow him.
