5 Cheap & Easy Eczema Remedies

Eczema is costly.

Very costly.

Every parent will joke that having a child is one of the priciest things they can have, but having eczema adds a couple pretty pennies on top.

With countless visits to the allergist, dermatologist, and pediatrician, and buying tons and tons of lotions, creams, medicines, and various soaps, clothes, foods to make sure that the eczema is kept to a minimum, it makes a hefty dent on your bank account.

As a teenager who has had eczema all her life, I can guesstimate that my parents have spent thousands due to my skin. I know nobody wants to pay that much, so here are a few tips that I have picked up along the way that will keep you and your bank account much happier.

5 Cheap & Easy Eczema Remedies

#1. Bleach baths!! This is so easy to do, and even better…it’s so cheap! **Make sure it is a mild bleach bath and I also recommend that you speak with your doctor before trying this method**. In a full tub of water, add half a cup of bleach water and soak yourself in the solution for around 10-15 minutes. This bleach bath will not only soothe your skin, but will also get rid of any of the skin infections your skin may have. In addition, chlorine might dry your skin out, so I recommend you hydrate your body with lotion after you rinse off the bleach water.

#2. Coconut Oil. Slather that oily goodness everywhere! I use globs and globs of this stuff because my skin is so dry and absorbs all of it. Just apply it wherever needed. An added bonus is that you’ll be smelling like a coconut and will glisten in the sun!!

#3. This might be a no brainer, but avoid scented perfumes, lotions, detergents, and soap as well as any articles of clothing that might trigger a reaction. For many, it’s typically wool clothing and tight clothing. Staying away from these items will avoid your eczema from getting flares and getting irritated.

#4. Avoid inflammatory foods! Yesssss I know…it’s hard because what’s there to eat if you’re trying to avoid foods with corn, dairy, gluten, and so on? I’ve done a few diets and it’s actually not too bad. Walmart, Aldis, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Costco are some great places to shop for some cheap and delicious foods that won’t trigger your eczema.

#5. Probably my favorite and is an OG remedy…LOTION!!! Lather that stuff everywhere!! My personal preference is CeraVe as it is cooling and I can buy it in bulk for cheap so it lasts me a long while.

That’s it!!! Hopefully these five tips can get your skin to feel much better and as always, let me know your tips, tricks, ideas, and questions!
